The Bridge at Cornell Tech is a new seven-story, 235,000 s.f. building on its new Roosevelt Island campus in New York City. The building fuses research and innovation by dedicating one-third of the building to Cornell Tech academic spaces while the remainder of the building is dedicated to technology-focused companies and start-ups. The structure is designed for maximum resiliency and sustainability with features such as an entry floor that rises seven feet above the 100-year flood plain and a roof canopy supporting 24,000 s.f. of solar panels.
Base Design Group worked with the build teams in the Delegated Design and Construction Phases of the project to provide specialty structural engineering services for the cold-formed steel framing. With stunning architectural features come unique framing challenges that were met with our firm’s vast experience, creative thinking and collaborative approach.
